Legislative Update

Michigan APRN Legislation

MI-CNS Board of Directors members have been active in efforts to bring legislation forward in the Michigan House and Senate to provide title protection for CNSs and allow APRNs to practice within the scope of their education and certification. Work continues, under the leadership of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners (MICNP). The first legislation was introduced in June 2011 and efforts culminated with the signing of Public Act 499 of 2016 on January 9, 2017 by Gov. Rick Snyder.
